Content of the Entry Pages of the Homepage Completed
The last page of the entry page sequence is completed now. After several approaches I am convinced that the content of the entry page sequence now captures the human context of systems engineering comprehensibly. The page sequence starts with some basic considerations on systems thinking and systems engineering. Then system efficiency and system sustainability are introduced as essential goals of achieving high quality results. The third page of the sequence provides the major lessons I have learnt in quite different roles developing High-Integrity Technical Systems (HITS). Having read the page you may understand why I disagree the widespread assumption that perfectness in all process steps would be the golden route to success. Due to my experience, perfect-world-assumptions rarely lead to success. On the contrary, they regularly create frustrations and lead to project crises, if not even project failure. The world is at it is, and as George Santayana has said: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
Following this advice, the remaining two pages are addressing the evolution of science and the progress in understanding human thinking. The fourth page is concerned with human perception of reality, and the fifth one with how human needs lead to motivation and turn into action. As you will see, the essentials of systems thinking and general systems engineering goals are quite simple. Conducting systems engineering may be achieved following a reasonable number of rules, but mastering the analysis and development of complex innovative systems remains always a reasonable challenge.
